Health and Wellness Coaching is a newly certified profession that uses research-based methods to discover the values that motivate lasting, client-led change. The study of mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and effective communication have contributed to understanding how people succeed in making changes that stick.
Health Coaching follows your lead in choosing the issues you want to work with, whether diet and exercise, personal growth, your home or work environment or relationships and community connection. All areas that effect your well being are on the table, I will simply guide your way through change. What we don't do: Health Coaching does not dig into the past, but focuses on the present and future. The Health Coach is not a personal trainer, therapist or dietitian. I will help you define your deepest desires, connect to your own values and motivation, reframe challenges, identify your strengths, and show you how to create a pattern of success to give you skills for life-long growth.
I have been teaching therapeutic Yoga based on the ancient Indian systems of traditional Yoga since 2006. I specialize in working with those who face physical limitations, medical issues, chronic pain, back pain, auto-immune issues , as well as acute conditions. I also have experience teaching the elderly, children, and fit adults.
The tradition I teach stimulates the neuro-endocrine system to work efficiently, balancing mind, body and emotions, awakening students to their ability to still the mind through the Parasympathetic Nervous System, (relaxation response),
Yoga and meditation help issues with energy, depression, anxiety, insomnia, over-active mind, and all stress-related illness, as well as physical issues like balance, strength, flexibility, pain, headache, digestive issues, and more.

Ananda Marga Yoga Teacher Training, 2006. This ancient system uses Yoga'asana, (poses), and basic mantra meditation to treat myriad physical, mental and emotional conditions. Appropriate for all levels and abilities.
My life changed in 2001 when I decided to experiment with the Yoga poses my meditation teacher had prescribed for my depression before seeking medical treatment. I was surprised that I felt better almost immediately when I was consistant with Yoga. I began deepening my meditation and Yoga practices with great results, and wanted to help others who struggled with emotional and mental health issues, as well as physical ones.
Since completing my Yoga Teacher Training I have taught the unusual therapeutic asana of Vidya Tantra Yoga to a wide variety of clients for diverse issues from anxiety to hunchback. I continually educate myself on the latest discoveries in neuroscience, physical therapy, and other Yogic traditions to add to what I can offer my clients.
In 2017 a client with Multiple Sclerosis hired me to do some cooking and nutritional guidance in addition to teaching him Yoga and helping with his prescribed PT. I wanted to add to my skills to better serve him and discovered the Health and Wellness Certification program taught through Vanderbilt University.
The skills I've learned in that program have broadened my understanding of how to communicate and listen to actualize the greatest change in clients.
Currently working primarily with individual clients and small groups, I am beginning to develop group classes, again and seeking space where I can offer them to the public.
I am excited about continuing to discover ways Wellness Coaching and Yoga can be integrated to create the greatest possible outcome for my clients.
I also bring elements from my study of dance, theater, Psychology, nutrition and a creative, playful approach to self-care.
